Ashley Jones – Thesis Distinction

Ashley Jones was awarded “distinction” for her thesis entitled, “Motivation, Mechanics and Magnitude: A Study of Glass Recycling in the Roman Empire.” Ashley’s advisor, Dr. S. Thomas Parker, described her thesis as a “ground-breaking study,” which concludes that the ubiquity of glass recycling throughout the Roman empire suggests that this industry was much more productive than previously thought by most scholars and thus a major contribution to the debate about the nature of the imperial Roman economy.

Ashley completed her thesis under the direction of Professor S. Thomas Parker.

Ashley’s thesis was nominated for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Thesis Award. She graduated with her Master of Arts in History in 2015.
