Grad Students Display Innovative Work at Research Symposium

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was well represented Wednesday at the 2016 Graduate Student Research Symposium. A total of 43 Humanities and Social Sciences students from 14 different graduate programs presented their work at the annual symposium, which showcases research from across campus through poster presentations that are judged by faculty.

Celebrating the Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies

NC State recently celebrated an exceptionally generous $8.1 million gift to endow the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Representing the largest single gift in the history of the college, the Khayrallahs are creating the first privately endowed center at NC State, and the world’s first center on Lebanese culture and history outside of Lebanon. Two CHASS students earn prestigious international Gilman scholarships

Two students from NC State’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences received the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, to study abroad this summer. The Gilman scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Congratulations to Stephen Minervino (History/Art and Design), who will study in Prague, Czech Republic, and to Olaf Almquist (International Studies/Economics), a Hamilton Scholar who will study in Jordan.
