Dr. Paulette lectures at Yale Peabody Museum
  • On February 26, Dr. Tate Paulette presented the lecture, “In the Land of Ninkasi: A History of Beer in Ancient Mesopotamia,” at the University of Colorado Boulder, Boulder, CO. On March 8, Dr. Paulette presented the lecture, “Brewing in Ancient Babylon,” at Yale Peabody Museum, New Haven, CT. The talk included a tasting of two replica Mesopotamian beers.
  • On March 11, Dr. Megan Cherry, presented the paper, “Scatological Satire and Taxation Policies in Early Eighteenth-Century New York: A New Look at Androboros,” to the Columbia University Seminar on Early American History and Culture “
  • In his News and Observer article, “Open Source: IBM was all about discussing diversity 5 years ago. Things have changed,” Brian Gordon interviewed Dr. David Zonderman about shifting social and political trends in US history. Zonderman was also interviewed by Rachel Sams from Risk Management Essentials about union organizing in nonprofits.
Dr. Voyles and Dr. Gordon go to D.C for Humanities Advocacy Day
  • On Tuesday, March 25, NC State sent a delegation of Humanities faculty to Washington D.C. for Humanities Advocacy Day. The delegation included History Professor Tammy Gordon and Professor and Department Head, Traci Brynne Voyles. In DC, they met with staff from North Carolina Congressional representatives and Senators to advocate for the humanities and share the extraordinary impact of humanities research, teaching, and engagement for the people of North Carolina. Dr. Gordon and Dr. Voyles highlighted examples of History faculty and student research, internships, and teaching that happens across the state and world.
