Impressionism at 150

Dr. Alexis Clark to moderate online discussion, "Impressionism at 150: New Views from around the World"

In September 2024, the new Atlantic Impressionist Futures Group will host a series of in-person and virtual events, many of them with colleagues from across the world and most of them online to facilitate global inclusion and access.

On September 17, Dr. Alexis Clark and Dr. Simon Kelly will moderate an online discussion with representatives from Bonhams, Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, Musée d’Orsay, National Gallery of Ireland, National Gallery of Victoria, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

In discussion with these specialists based in Dublin, London, Melbourne, New York, Paris, and São Paulo, “Impressionism at 150: New Views from around the World” will raise such questions as: What do twenty-first century audiences now look to see in impressionism? What new narratives about impressionism are being told on exhibition walls? How do histories of impressionism, past and present, compare across national, linguistic, and cultural lines? How does impressionism function as a global modern art in the global marketplace?
