Students and Faculty Celebrate Alumnus James Sorrell at History Department Reception

Students and faculty gathered at a reception on April 20 to celebrate and thank NC State History alumnus James Sorrell for his bequest to support our Public History Program.  Said Dr. Zonderman, Head of the History Department, “This is a game changing gift to our department, and we are grateful to Mr. Sorrell for his vision and generosity.” This bequest will fund student research, conference travel, visiting scholars and practitioners, and other opportunities to advance the work of the Public History Department.

Mr. Sorrell stated that his History degree from NC State helped him build his career with the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources where he was head of special collections; he now wants to pay it forward for Public History students in the future.
