History at the Nature Research Center

Prof. Matthew Booker recently gave a North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Lunchtime Discovery lecture entitled, “The Rise and Fall of the Industrial Oyster.” The NC environmental education program invited him to talk about the environmental history of cities. Booker spoke to a public audience in the SECU Daily Planet theater and online.

Dr. Booker is an Associate Professor in the Department of History. His work examines the intersection between human beings and the natural world in North America, with a particular focus on coastal cities. He studies the boundaries of history, ecology, law and agriculture. Learn More about his research and interests.
