I am interested in modern German history, particularly the period from 1900 to 1989. My specific research interests include National Socialism in theory and practice, the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS in combat, the Hitler Youth, and German and Russian imperialism. I also have an interest in Christian and Jewish history, particularly Christianity and Judaism in conflict.

In 2013, I co-founded a non-profit historic restoration organization that focuses on restoring historic cemeteries. During the summer of 2017, I helped lead cleaning workshops for AmeriCorps volunteers working with the West Virginia Preservation Alliance, and for a Boy Scout troop during the National Scout Jamboree in July of 2017. These workshops focused on teaching volunteers the proper methods for safely cleaning, repairing, and maintaining historic tombstones.
