Professor S. Thomas Parker receives Outstanding Faculty Research Award.
The History Department is pleased to announce that Professor S. Thomas Parker has received the NCSU Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Research Award. This award was given to twelve faculty members from across the university who were nominated by their respective colleges.
Parker, who received his B.A. in history and religion from Trinity University in 1972 and his Ph.D. in history from UCLA in 1979 joined the history department at NCSU as an assistant professor in 1980 and was promoted to associate professor in 1986 and to professor in 1991. His major field is Roman history and archaeology, especially the Roman Levant. His research focuses on the economy of the Roman Empire, Roman frontiers, the Roman army, and the origins of Christianity.
Parker’s latest funded research is The Petra North Ridge Project: Reimagining Urban Space: Petra in the 1st through 4th Centuries A.D.
