History M.A. Alumna Wins Research Award

History M.A. Alumna Stacy Roberts (’14) was awarded the 2015 Emil G. Scholz Prize for her paper “The Private Commons: Oyster Planting in Nineteenth-Century Connecticut” at University of California-Davis, where she is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of History. Each year the prize committee recognizes the student whose paper it deems “most outstanding” in the HIS 203 year-long research seminar for second-year history graduate students.

The prize committee praised Stacy for her “clear and graceful prose.” See the full award announcement.

Stacy won the prize on the same day she presented this paper at the International Water History conference in Delft, Netherlands.
