Bachelor of Arts Degree (LAH)
The Bachelor of Arts (LAH) degree has traditionally served as a foundation for careers in such professions as teaching and law. In recent years, undergraduates have augmented studies in history with computer science, foreign language, or business administration--combinations which have proven attractive in business and government service.
A History major must take 30 hours of course work in history in addition to the six hours required of all students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
These 30 hours must include:
- The sophomore seminar (Hi 300)
- A senior seminar (Hi 491)
At least 24 of the 30 hours must be at the 400 level and include a course in each of three areas
- American
- European
- Pre-Modern or Non Western History
This degree allows 33 hours of free electives for a total of 120 hours. History courses are scheduled in order to make possible the completion of the B.A. degree by evening attendance.
